Entitled ‘Intuit’, this solo exhibition, held at D Contemporary in Mayfair, London, comprises mainly pieces made in the last 18 months during the craziness that has been this pandemic. The pieces delve into human connections with the earth, the natural world and the universe in general. They are dream worlds and fantasies; hidden emotions and expressions of the undiscovered… There are also a few collaborative pieces with metal sculptor Simon Probyn. Simon’s knowledge of steel and expertise with this rigid material, marries well with Mirella’s dynamic figures creating evocative sculptures. The exhibition is fairly experimental and delves into different materials and ways of creating, hence the title – intuition being the thread that weaves it all together…
